Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications are now open and will shut on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must satisfy the subsequent requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house by using a combined gross home income that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined household income will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the correct Id Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until nsfas status check the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
